More Cards in a Box

Back again to share some more card in a box creations.  We have had a few birthdays this month and a work colleagues granddaughters arrival to celebrate and here are the cards I created to pass on my love and best wishes.

My Great Nephew's 4th Birthday Card

My gorgeous Great Nephew turned four last week and he loves TMNT so when I saw cards similar to this on Pinterest I knew I had to create one of my own specially for this adorable little man.

I also used my envelope punch board to create a matching box style envelope.  The papers were from My Minds Eye and I used punches, Marianne Creatable dies, Reverse Confetti dies and MFT dies to create the embellishments.

My Husbands Birthday Card

A but of a nautical theme here with some of my newer MFT dienamics and my fav paper company - MME again.

Welcoming a new Grandchild

One of the lovely ladies I work with became a grandma for the first time recently and this is the card I created for her.

I created the matching box with my envelope punch board like the TMNT card.

The clouds had a little glitter pen applied to them.

A mixture of bunting and onesies were hung on the clothes line

And I used my newly acquired typewriter to personalise the card a little further.

Thanks for dropping by!

Scrapmatts Guest Designer - Christmas in July

It was my turn to post again over at Scrapmatts so as promised here is a corresponding post with some additional pics.

Wow I can’t believe it’s the middle of July already …… time flies when you are playing with Scrapmatts goodies.   I really love the Scrapmatts Christmas themed pieces so for this post I decided to create some “Christmas in July” projects.  Keeping in mind it’s cold and chilly in Melbourne I decided to include some of the snowflakes on my projects as well as using papers with a cool wintery feel to them.

Gift Box  – Merry Christmas

You know when you have a creative vision and you start playing and your project just takes on a whole new direction?? Well believe it or not this little angel made from the sewing inspired collection initially was going to be an angel card.  As I began to make it I just decided it would be more fun to make a decorative gift box that can also double as a Christmas decoration/ornament.

The wings are painted and glittered and the backing piece was covered with patterned paper.  I then placed them in between the two dress form pieces.  The bodice of the dress form was punched from a Martha Stewart heart punch which gave you the perfect neckline to add bling to.

The box was painted and papered then I added some of the other sewing set pieces to finish it all off.

Card – Merry Christmas Window (double)

We lived and worked for two years in the US and one of my fondest memories was spotting a red cardinal outside our family room window one snowy morning just after Christmas.  This memory inspired me to make this card.  The tiny little bird was inked and the frames were painted and used as the window.  The Merry Christmas sentiment was also painted.

The fronds were punched with a Martha Stewart punch.

Tag – Merry Christmas Window

I love the versatility of the ornate frames in the Scrapmatts collection.  This tag features the single square frame (which I used as another window) in the white coloured chipboard along with the inked Merry Christmas sentiment piece.  I couldn’t resist adding some of my rolled flowers and the green inked leafy spay Scrapmatts chipboard were tucked in behind them with some punched fronds.  I love the way you can layer the Scrapmatts chipboard with punched leaves to give some texture and depth to a project.

Card – Snowflakes

Even though there is never a white Christmas in Australia I still love the cards you can create with wintery feel.  More often than not our American friends are the recipients of these cards that I create.  I love how the snowflakes that Scrapmatts have are just so delicate and intricately cut and the one that I chose for this card was white and I just added some liquid glitter to it.  Each snowflake on the patterned paper was also trimmed with a miniature rhinestone to add to the frosty feel.  Couldn’t resist adding some of my favourite border pieces as well.

June & July Classes at Scrappy Hollow

Thank you to everyone who came to my classes this week. It was so lovely to see everyone again and to watch you make this months cards.  I love teaching and thank you all for supporting me by attending class.  Here is what we made!

These cards were designed with the little girl/young teen in mind.

For the first card we created a mini pinwheel and a ledge styled fold to attach the pinwheel to the card.

This second card had lots of layering and the blue label piece opened on the front of the card so you could add a sentiment.

After working frantically on the first two cards the little gift pocket and last card came together quite quickly.

The papers were My Minds Eye - My Girl and we used the 6x6 paper pad for the projects.  Teaming this paper up with seam binding and ivory card stock made sure all the colours came to life.

Deconstructed Sketch Challenge 94 and a Circle Card

Been back in my craft studio this week doing a little bit of DT designing, class designing and playing along with some challenges.  So I thought I would share a little of what I have been doing!

First up I played along with The Deconstructed Sketch.  I absolutely love the variety of sketches the very clever and talented Jen and the DT come up with.  Here is DS94:

And here is the card I created!

The papers were from one of my favourite ranges from MME Stella and Rose.  I love the 6x6 paper pads as the patterns a miniaturised making them perfect for cards.

I wanted to add some dimension and bold elements to the card so I chose to use some thick twine and an oversized button with the ribbon.  I also added the striped strip under the sentiment.

The Happy Birthday sentiment was from WOW and the pearls were from Flourish with a Bling.  Of course I had to add some distressing and inking too!

We have quite a few male birthdays in the family and amongst friends in March and April so using this sketch really helped to kick start the creative process.

I also absolutely love round cards so I made a round card for a 60th Anniversary that I had been asked to make using one of my favourite Mojo Monday sketches.

Here is what I made:

The papers were from MME and part of the Collectable collection.  I also added a Studio Calico spotted piece to the card.  This card used the last of my pre cut scallop circle cards which I bought from Archiver's in Ohio USA when I worked there. I just love them and they no longer make them so I have invested in some Grand Nestablilities dies and cant wait to start creating some more circular cards soon.

The flowers were MFT die-namics mini rolled roses.  They are so much fun to make and just the perfect size for card making.

I also added an MFT oval doily to the card.  Hand cut the fishtail banners, added Quik Cutz numbers and Adorn It lettering.  I also added some sparkle with a Gel Pen.

Thanks for stopping by, would love to hear from you so feel free to comment!
