Deconstructed Sketch Challenge 94 and a Circle Card

Been back in my craft studio this week doing a little bit of DT designing, class designing and playing along with some challenges.  So I thought I would share a little of what I have been doing!

First up I played along with The Deconstructed Sketch.  I absolutely love the variety of sketches the very clever and talented Jen and the DT come up with.  Here is DS94:

And here is the card I created!

The papers were from one of my favourite ranges from MME Stella and Rose.  I love the 6x6 paper pads as the patterns a miniaturised making them perfect for cards.

I wanted to add some dimension and bold elements to the card so I chose to use some thick twine and an oversized button with the ribbon.  I also added the striped strip under the sentiment.

The Happy Birthday sentiment was from WOW and the pearls were from Flourish with a Bling.  Of course I had to add some distressing and inking too!

We have quite a few male birthdays in the family and amongst friends in March and April so using this sketch really helped to kick start the creative process.

I also absolutely love round cards so I made a round card for a 60th Anniversary that I had been asked to make using one of my favourite Mojo Monday sketches.

Here is what I made:

The papers were from MME and part of the Collectable collection.  I also added a Studio Calico spotted piece to the card.  This card used the last of my pre cut scallop circle cards which I bought from Archiver's in Ohio USA when I worked there. I just love them and they no longer make them so I have invested in some Grand Nestablilities dies and cant wait to start creating some more circular cards soon.

The flowers were MFT die-namics mini rolled roses.  They are so much fun to make and just the perfect size for card making.

I also added an MFT oval doily to the card.  Hand cut the fishtail banners, added Quik Cutz numbers and Adorn It lettering.  I also added some sparkle with a Gel Pen.

Thanks for stopping by, would love to hear from you so feel free to comment!

Card Classes at Scrappy Hollow

Wow has the last month flown!  This week is my teaching week at Scrappy Hollow and I had so much fun showing everyone how to create three cards using the adorable MME Lost & Found 3 Oliver collection.  We looked at different ways to re purpose dies, tried some new ways to attach bows and tags and worked on a centre step card.

We played with the following dies -

MFT Die-namics Dies
Butterfly Trio
Decorative Doily Duo
Notched Tag
Textile Rectangle
Hybrid Heirloom Rose

Memory Box Dies
Pocket Gift Tag (98347)

Here is what we created:

Next months class has already sold out!!!  Thank you to everyone for your support and for booking in.
I am so excited to be making some lovely "love" themed cards that would be perfect for Mother's Day or that special person in your life. We are going to be making a card featuring an altered bottle which should be lots of fun.  Here is a sneak peak and the samples are up on display in the store:

Have a fabulous weekend and thanks for dropping by!

Sketch Fun with The Deconstructed Sketch No 93

With all my DT and class commitments under control, classes kitted up and a quiet house to myself I made a quick card tonight for one of the many "male" birthdays that are coming up in the next few weeks.

To get my card started I decided to play along with a sketch challenge that I have not used before - The Deconstructed Sketch! Although I do head over to the blog and check out the sketches and check out what the talented DT and participants create quite often!

So here i the sketch!

Deconstructed Sketch No. 93

And this is the card I created -

The papers are from Authentique - I just love the colour combo! together with some MFT die-namics dies.

Instead of the three semi-circular accents I decided to add a stacked set of had cut fishtail banners.

I am experimenting a little with the idea of "doodling" on my die cut element and grabbed the white pen to add some random and grungy looking detail to the stars and sentiment.  The aim was to try and be "messy" to work along with the distressing and inking I already incorporated.

The MFT die-namics dies I used:
By the Letter
By the Number
Polka Dot Greetings
Stacking Stars

Thanks to the talented Jen at The Deconstructed Sketch for the inspiration and thanks to you for dropping by!

Congratulations!

Just a quick post to share with you a decorated box and matching gift card I created for Alex and Peter's engagements - Congrats to the happy couple!!!!!!

The box was from Spoltlight, I decorated it with Studio Calico paper then added embellishments created with MFT dies (hearts a plenty, rustic hearts and mini royal rolled roses).  To attach the hearts I used Tim Holtz metal and Maya Road mini cotton reels to create miniature stands to attach the hearts to.  The embellishments were made with MME Memorable papers and white card stock.

The matching gift card was made to fit inside the box with the gift.

Thanks for stopping by!!!!
