Mojo 256 & TSTR #129 - Happy 21st Birthday

I was so excited to find some time to play along with a challenge or two this week.  It is such a busy week with the Paperific Show starting in Melbourne on Friday and I didn't think I would get to play along with many challenges.

I knew it was round or square week over at Mojo Monday and so I was all set to make a round card - the sketch was so cool and perfect for the card I wanted to make!

So here is the sketch from the talented Julee Tilman:

I also visited one of my favourite colour challenge blogs - The Shabby Tea Room and found some colour inspiration:

This week Starr is the creative host and she has chosen the theme of 'Summer Cottage' along with this beautiful photo for inspiration the challenge was to create a card or project inspired by the COLORS from the photo and INCLUDE DISTRESSING/SHABBY ELEMENTS plus a TITLE/SENTIMENT!

I immediately picked up on the lovely hues of pink and cream and the complimentary green in the cushion on the couch.  So here is the card I created:

It's the lovely Bec at Scrappy Hollow's 21st Birthday this week so I immediately knew what my sentiment had to be.  I die cut the 21st and used rub-ons for the rest of the sentiment.  I cut the word Birthday into pieces so I could get it to sit on the curved edge of the oval and tuck up around the 21st.

The shabby elements on the card include edge distressing, inking and stitching which I snipped into to make it look well worn and shabby.  I also added some pale pink pearl flourishes.

I added my favourite rolled roses, a hemp twine bow and some metal butterflies.  All the elements were mounted on the card with foam tape to give some further dimension to the design.

The 21st and edges of the ovals had some glitter pen applied to give the card a bit of shabby sparkle.

So a big Happy Birthday to Bec - hope you like my card!

Materials Used:

Paper - MME Miss Caroline
Dies - MFT die-namics Mini Rolled Rose, Oval Stax and Quickcutz alphabet.
Other - ZVA creative pearls, Darice Hemp Twine, Punch Bunch leaf punch, metal butterfly trinkets, Yours Truly scalloped edge note card, BBP rub on and gel roll glitter pen

Thanks for dropping by!

ISSC - 30 "Thank You"

WOW! I know I say this all the time but where has the last week gone?????

Time is flying by and I have been busy getting ready for the upcoming Paperific Show at the Melbourne Showgrounds.  Many of my cards will be on display at the show plus some OTP pieces, tags and die cut samplers made from MFT and Spellbinders flower dies that I just absolutely love to make.  So come on over and say "Hi" when you are at the show - I am on the Scrappy Hollow/Kaisercraft stand all 3 days.  I will also be posting pics of some of the samples etc after the show and I will have some other special news to share as the month of September rolls on so stay tuned!!!!!

Even though it has been a busy week I still managed to complete this weeks iSpy sketch challenge. I absolutely love playing along with the challenges they post.  Each weeks sketch is different from the last and I have so much fun making the sketch my own.  This week's sketch is from Jacquie Southas ( Jacquie J @ SCS) and is based on this card.  So thanks Jacquie and the talented design team for your inspiration.

Here is the sketch:

Now Kim's advice over at the iSpy blog was - 'Don't let the diamonds scare you!!! They can be any shape!! Just make sure you have the stripes!!' and that's exactly what I did.  My shape of choice was a heart.

So here is the card I created:

The papers were from Cosmo Cricket's Tea for Two collection.

The large heart was created with the MFT die-namics Layered Heart.  I stitched around the heart with hemp twine and finished it off with a matching twine bow, a small rolled rose and punched leaves.

The smaller hearts were also cut from MFT die-namics - the Notched Tag and Hearts a Plenty dies.  The sentiment was a Pebbles Inc rub on.

Each panel on the card background and heart was distresses and inked to add extra detail that mimicked faux stitching lines.  This is one of my favourite techniques when I am not stitching on the sewing machine.

I used some foam tape between layers on the card to create dimension and allow each element to stand out a little more than you would get from flat taping it to the previous layer.

Once again, thanks for dropping by.  Please leave a comment as I love to hear from you!

ISSC29 - Happy Birthday

Well another week has flown by and it's time to play along with the iSpy sketch challenge.  This weeks inspirational sketch was inspired by  Renee Matarese ( Renlymat @ SCS) and is based on this card.

So here is the sketch:

As I was checking out the inspirational cards by the design team I saw that Tobi Crawford had set herself a few challenges to aim to use her stash so I thought I would do the same.

I never make many male cards and I have a plethora of brads which I once loved but rarely seem to use anymore.  So my challenge to myself - male card with brads.

And here is the card I created:

The papers were from the Authentique Loyal collection.  I love love love the cream, green and blue combination in this collection.  For my embellished element I used my MFT die - namics - Stacking Stars, Well Worn Greetings, and Polka Dot.

The stars were finished off with a gel sparkle pen and some were attached with foam to add dimension.

The stamped "Happy Birthday" was from the MFT Airplane greetings and die set and was stamped with Versa Magic Aegean Blue.  I tied some Darice hemp twine around the background elements and used the brads as anchors.

Thanks for dropping by!

Scrappy Hollow Cards Class

Last week was my teaching week at Scrappy Hollow.  I really love teaching my cards classes.  It so lovely to see people finish their cards and be so proud of what they have made.  The cards were designed for older children and feature Basic Greys Shine On 6x6 paper pad.  Here is what we made (three cards and a treat bag):

We had so much fun making delightful MFT loopy blooms from felt and the rolled daisy from patterned paper.

The new aeroplane die from MFT was used on this gift card.

This is the cupcake themed covered gift bag.

More felt fun with the clouds behind the fun filled kite card.

And now for a September sneak peak - we are starting the first of our Christmas cards classes with the new Kaisercraft Mint Twist range due for release in September:

Thanks for stopping by!

ISSC28 - Best Wishes

The talented team over at iSpy have spied another fabulous card maker and the sketch from her creation is really cute.  This is the sketch for challenge #28:

Thanks to Mary Brown for the inspiration for the sketch.  I adore the fishtail banners and the sketch lends itself to be as simple or as detailed as you want.

Here is the card I created:

The papers were from Simple Stories "Summer Fresh". I have been looking forward to using this paper range.

I also used some of my MFT dies - min royal rolled rose, fishtail banner stax and the polka dot label.  I added a punched circle, some punch bunch leaves, Green Tara flowers and a rub on for the sentiment.

The bow was made from cream seam binding which I wet and scrunched.

Thanks for stopping by!

Mojo Monday 253 & The Shabby Tea Room 126 - Enjoy Your Day

Wow another busy week this week for me getting ready for my next cards class at Scrappy Hollow.  I did however, have time to get my mojo happening and be inspired the sketch at Mojo Monday and the colour challenge at The Shabby Tea Room.

Here is the cool sketch by Julee at Mojo Monday and the colour challenge inspiration photo at The Shabby Tea Room:

Now for the card I made:

I took inspiration from The Shabby Tea Room photo and decided to incorporate a damask print paper to reflect the cushions, added some lace and pleated ribbon which was inspired by the bedroom and finished with some flowers and butterflies.

I changed the stacking of the layers on the card so I didn't cover up too much of the ribbon embellishments.

Materials used:
Paper - MME Lost and Found Two
Dies - MFT Mini Rolled Roses, Fishtail Banner stax and Sweet Stack Label
Punches - MS Glassene Butterfly and Punch Bunch Medium Leaves
Ink - TH Tea Dye and Versa Magic Sahara Sand
Stamps - MFT Sentiments set
Other - Bling - Prima Say it With Crystals,  button, hemp twine, Maya Arts ribbon and lace from my collection.

Thanks for dropping by!

ISSC 27 - Happy Birthday 2u

A quick bit of card making this morning to make sure don't run out of time to play along with the girls at iSpy.  This week Toni Story was the inspirational designer and this is her sketch:

And here is my card:

Although the sketch was square I decided to keep mine the usual 4" x 6".  I replaced one of the cardstock elements with ribbon and added an embellished doily (couldn't resist!).  I was excited to play with my MFT felt and used it to cut the doily rather than cardstock.  Then finished off the embellishment with hand rolled roses, punched leaves, die cut numbers and letters and rub-on words.

The papers were from October Afternoon, dies from MFT and ribbon from Maya Arts.

Thanks for dropping by!

The Shabby Tea Room #125 and ISSC26 - Merry Christmas

The girls over at The Shabby Tea Room set a summertime challenge this week that got me thinking mmmmmm......... I loved the colours of the challenge (blues, mauve, pinks and green and I was also thinking what I love most about Australian summer - and that would have to be Christmas - and then I came up with my card from there with the help of the iSpy sketch challenge.

So here is the colour inspiration from The Shabby Tea Room.  This week Fran is their creative host and she has chosen the theme of 'Sweet Summertime' along with this beautiful photo for inspiration and Fran asks that you create a card or project inspired by the COLORS in the photo AND INCLUDE FLOWER(S) PLUS A STAMPED ELEMENT

And the sketch from iSpy looks like this

And here is my card:

I selected my papers on the theme of blue, pink and green from the MME Be Merry range.  Added the flowers and stamped image (MFT Christmas sentiment) to complete the challenge guidelines.  I gave the iSpy sketch had a minor change with the cross element on the side panel - mine is at the top.

The baubles are hung with some tinsel style braid which really picks up the pinks and blues in light.  I added some dimension to the baubles with foam tape and a Copic Spica pen

The dies were from MFT

Thanks for visiting!!!
