After missing the cut off for last weeks fabulous iSpy sketch I was determined not to miss this one!  I love the simplicity of the sketch this week from the inspiring Bridgit Edbolm.  Here's the sketch:

 

Here's the card I created (as you can see mine is square rather than rectangular):

Although I started out to keep this card simple I found I just had to add some of my favourites to finish off the centre label.  Since discovering how easy it is to cut fabric with my Cuttlebug and MFT dies I have been making linen flowers which i added to this card.   I also love the look of punched stitching holes used by other card makers so I tried it out on this card around the backing piece and central label. 

I also replaced the tabs at the side with some cute buttons from my stash.

Mojo 233!

Despite my last post apologising for not being able to post I found myself thinking of this weeks Mojo Sketch Challenge sketch and I just had to make a card!

The sketch was designed by Teresa Kline and once I saw it I just knew I had to play along.  Thanks Teresa for the inspiration!

Here is the card I designed. 

 Once again I grabbed out my MFT die-namics, MME papers, ribbons and cardstock but this week I also dabbled with some fabric to make a cute MFT Loopy Bloom flower for on the card.

I also rummaged through my old wood mounted stamps and came across this little antique alphabet stamp set which I used to make the lettering tiles.  I tried to keep the shabby chic theme going by varying the size of the tiles and inking them.  The random stamping of the letters was also done to help achieve the variation in the intensity of the colour in the individual letters. I then mounted some with foam tape and adhered others flat to the card front to add interest.

Other - satin ribbon by Birch, antique button and stamp set from my stash!

Time Out

Hello to my regular blog visitors.  You may notice over the next few weeks a "lull" in my sketch participation and blog posting as I am busy designing and preparing samples for the Paperific Show here in Melbourne.  I am also working more hours at the store and show.  Hope to see you at the show!

Scrappy Hollow March Card Class in Review

Wow has it been a busy week.  One of the highlights of the week has been running my monthly card class at Scrappy Hollow. It was great to catch up with some of my regular ladies and also to meet and welcome some new ladies.  This month our cards featured the Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings range. Here is what we made -

 The first card used one of my favourite MFT Die-namics - the medium rolled rose.

We also made a matchbook style card which would be perfect for a gift card.  We added tags to the inside of ours.

Last of all we finished off with an embossed and faux stitched technique card.

Next  month we are making some Mother's Day themed cards featuring the Echo Park This and That Graceful range.

Mojo 232

Welcome back to another of my Mojo Monday sketch challenges.  Sketch 232 is a gorgeous sketch by Teresa Kline (a favourite of mine!).  It's a lovely simple sketch with lots of room to play with the elements you add.  Here it is:












And here is the card I made:

The papers used are from MME Lost and Found 2 and Glitz Designs Happy Travels.

I decided to incorporate  little bit of  machine stitching and paper scrunching onto the card.  The paper was misted, scrunched and then ironed dry.  It shrinks a little but the effect is really nice and add a little more to the shabby chic feel.

The flower is another MFT die-namics die of mine - the scallop flower.  I have used white core cardstock for this project and I only inked part of the edges so the flower had a variegated look on tips.

The oval doily was from the MFT oval decorative duo.  Stamps were from Verve - Birthday bash.

ISSC06 and CR84FN50 Colour Challenge - Happy Birthday

Hi and welcome back to my blog.  This week a new colour challenge was launched over at CR84FN and boy did I have to rack my brain for this one!  Initially I thought it was going to be easy, but once I started looking through my paper stash I realised that one of the colours was not featured very heavily at all.  So here is the colour challenge:



I had a cute patterned pink (MME Stella & Rose), and could find a lovely yellow spot to compliment it (MME On the Bright Side) but where oh where were some oranges to finish off the trio? Not many to choose from at all - guess I'm not a fan of orange.  Eventually I settled on a muted orange patterned paper from MME Vanity Fair.

Once I had the colour challenge sorted I decided to use it for my iSpy sketch challenge.  Here is the sketch:



And finally, here is my finished card:

I love the fishtail banner from my MFT Die-namics collection.  I teamed this up with a Carl punch to get the cute heart to finish it off.

The greeting was a rub-on.

The central embellishment was created with a 2" scallop circle and a 1 3/4" circle punch.  The butterfly was another MFT die namics die.  Just love this one!  I finished the butterfly off with a Green Tara mini rosebud.  I also spun the background paper around to add a little additional detail.

Rewind to 2011

Last year flew by so quickly and the last few months were very busy indeed.  We had Ingvild Bolme come to visit Scrappy Hollow and run a class.  An amazing night.  All the team at Scrappy Hollow put together a display for her using Prima products.  I am sure I gave a few sneak peaks but forgot to show you all the finished projects so here they are!

First up - some cards.



Since making these we have given them to friends and family for birthdays and some of the thank you cards were used for Sarah's teachers when she finished Year 12 last year.

And now for some off the page projects which I mad for two of my dearest friends.

Mojo Monday 231 & CR84FN Colour Challenge - Happy Birthday

Well it's Friday again and I have been busy putting together my take on the Mojo Monday 231 Sketch.  I was excited to get underway with my card this week.   Not only was I planning to incorporate the new Verve Birthday Bash stamps that arrived after winning Mojo 227 Challenge,  but I also decided to stretch my creative skills and incorporated a colour challenge into the card as well.

I have admired Mona Pendleton's card making for a long time now and visit her blog often.  She also heads up the creative team at CR84FN Color Challenges so I thought I would use this on my card too.

So here is the sketch and colour challenge I used.




When I saw the colour challenge colours of yellow, grey and kraft I immediately thought of the MME Miss Caroline paper pad I had stashed away. 
So here it is -

The shabby chic fence had the kraft and grey colourings and the yellow spots were so cute to add in as a complimentary touch.  I also snuck in a little extra colour with the flower border along the fences.  I mounted the card onto a kraft card base and cut out my tag and doily from this cardstock as well.  I just love the colour combination the team at CR84FN came up with.  I don't normally use grey and yellow together and it works so well with kraft.

A few pearls and some hand stitching were added just to finish things off.

For the Boys
